Many of the little screws are just for show BUT you do have to take off this panel:

Then you will find two black screws to remove:

With them out the way the whole panel can be unclipped, nicely hinged at the front. Voila!

Extra charging sockets https://customgrenadier.com/interior/extra-charging-sockets/ https://customgrenadier.com/interior/extra-charging-sockets/#comments Fri, 03 Nov 2023 09:28:41 +0000 https://customgrenadier.com/?p=498 Can you have too many 12V sockets or USB charging points?

As most know, the Grenadier comes pre wired with several useful circuits for owners to play with. In the passenger (left) footwell there is one such pre-wired point. Switched by the INT 1 switch in the overhead panel, fuse 129, 10 amps.

You will find the wires looking like this, taped down with plastic inulated tips:

Wire up to a deutsch plug to future proof the connection:

Smilarly wire up your prefered USB sockets:

And there’s a little metal bracket you attach a longer bracket to (photo taken looking upwards):

And the end result looks like a bought one:

Dual Battery and Solar setup https://customgrenadier.com/electrical/dual-battery-and-solar-setup/ https://customgrenadier.com/electrical/dual-battery-and-solar-setup/#respond Thu, 04 May 2023 05:40:48 +0000 https://customgrenadier.com/?p=294 The Grenadier may be optioned with a second battery. This is an EFB battery, and mananaged with a CTEK Smartpass 120S. This gives you a “Starter Battery” and “Service Battery”. Most will wire all added ancilliaries and gadgets to the Service Battery.

The technical bits:

EFB (enhanced flooded battery) batteries are an enhanced version of standard wet-flooded technology. The primary benefits of EFB technology are improved charge acceptance and greater cyclic durability when operating in a reduced state of charge. As an approximation, EFB batteries will provide 85,000 engine starts, compared to 30,000 starts from standard flooded product.

The Smartpass 120S:

  • is a 120A Power Management Solution which distributes, controls and maximises the available energy from your alternator to power service batteries and consumers.
  • handles all 12V batteries between 28-800Ah
  • the Battery Guard function ensures that critical equipment such as radio, emergency lights and navigation systems always have power and take priority when the voltage on the service battery is low disconnecting non-critical consumers
  • the unit’s Battery Guard will protect your service battery from total discharge and built in over temperature protection reduces charge current before the battery temperature gets too high
  • is compatible with the D250SA and D250SE 20A on board chargers

So we have alternator input on the top left, output to the Service Battery top right, and the “Output Consumers” bottom right – for those non-critical consumers of power.

This system combines with the D250SE when you wish to add solar charging to your setup.

Both the Smartpass and the D250SE can be used with AGL and Lithium batteries – should you wish to go that route.

The Smartpass 120s and D250SE can be tidily mounted together. BlackSheep have released an adapter plate to facilitate this. This is screwed to the original mounting points, and alows these devices to be coupled as intended by the manufacturer.

Switches and Electrical Outlets https://customgrenadier.com/interior/switches-and-electrical-outlets/ https://customgrenadier.com/interior/switches-and-electrical-outlets/#respond Sun, 30 Apr 2023 03:49:20 +0000 https://customgrenadier.com/?p=273 This is information taken from the Ineos Grenadier Pocket Guide, and will be of use to those planning electrical accessories for their Grenadier.

The Grenadier comes with an Auxiliary Switch Panel and some electrical preparation as standard. This includes a power switch that leaves the 12v/USB power on whne the vehicle is switched off (essential for camping!) and 3 switches for 10A wiring running to the bonnet / engine bay, footwell, and fuse box.

The High Load Auxiliary Switch Panel and preparation is optional – although is included if you also option the winch. This includes:

  • 25A switch for a front LED bar. Outlet on the roof
  • 25A for side and rear LED bars. 3 outlets on the roof
  • 500A for the winch
  • 25A with wiring to bonnet / engine bay and fuse box.

Finding the pre-wired outlets

The roof outlets are easy. Footwells and under bonnet not so much! See Extra charging sockets for info on the footwell wiring. The under bonnet wire is taped to the wiring loom on the right had side, just in front / under the clear reservoir. The plastic insulators are just visible in the second photo:
