  • 17″ or 18″ steel wheels (the 17″ is standard)
  • 17 or 18″ alloy wheels
  • 17″ Bridgestone All Terrain tyres (265/70R17 XL 118S)
  • 17″ BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A K02 tyres (LT265/70R17 121/118S)
  • 18″ Bridgestone All Terrain tyres (255/70R18 XL 116S)
  • 18″ BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A K02 tyres (LT255/70R18 117/114S)

That gives some good starting options – but to no great surprise other options are becoming available.

Technical information for wheels:

  • PCD: 130mm
  • Offfset: 55mm
  • Stud Patern: 6 studs, equally spaced

Decoding tyre sizes

  • The first of the two numbers is the nominal section width of the tyre in millimetres (the distance between the inner and outer sidewall of the tyre). So 265 means your tyre is 265 mm wide.
  • The second number is the ratio of a tyre’s sidewall height and width (as a percentage). So 70 indicates that the sidewall height is 70% of the tyre width.

Buzz Special Vehicles have a rugged but elegent offering with their custom made Braid Wheels wheel and tyre package. These are 285/70/17 – so a wider and taller tyre with some increase in ground clearance. (thanks Paul for the great photos).

Capricorn Trucks have another options. Details not yet available but the pictures look good:

GrenadierStyle offer Grenadier-compatible 17” EVO Corse wheels in stock in Anthracite (pictured) and Matte Black finishes:

Trackparts (Switzerland) and Expedition HQ (Australia) have a range of Method Race wheels available:

Here’s Trackparts again with Method Race wheels 7.5×17 ET50 wearing Yokohama G003 285/75/17 tyres.

Original (steel wheel) 7.5×17 ET55 265/70/17 = 39kg
Method 7.5×17 ET50 285/75/17 = 41kg

Verdir (Iceland) are doing a 37″ tyre modification, complete with larger flairs. Details pending!

Spare Wheel Carrier https://customgrenadier.com/wheels-and-tyres/spare-wheel-carrier/ https://customgrenadier.com/wheels-and-tyres/spare-wheel-carrier/#respond Mon, 17 Apr 2023 03:12:51 +0000 https://customgrenadier.com/?p=160 Many Grenadier owners are looking at larger tyre and wheel options. One snag with this is that the rear door spare wheel carrier does not fit larger wheels.

Black Sheep have made a modified carrier to fix the issue. It is possible to mount a spare wheel with a diameter of up to 94cm (depending on the offset) on the rear and the rear doors can still be opened properly. The assembly takes place at the original mounting points. The carrier is made of 5mm stainless steel and powder-coated black so that it matches the vehicle’s appearance. The manufacturer notes “that the additional weight of the larger wheel can affect the lifespan of the tailgate hinges”

Original Carrier:

Note the interior structure of the door is pretty robust:
